The Raízes da Caatinga Program, a partnership between the Laudes Foundation and IDH, aims to promote sustainable economic production, environmental restoration, and social inclusion in the Caatinga biome. As part of the Regenerative Production Landscapes Collaborative Program (RPLC), the initiative operates in three key regions: Sertão do Pajeú (Pernambuco), Sertão do Cariri (Paraíba), and Sertão do Apodi (Rio Grande do Norte).
With the involvement of over 50 stakeholders from the public and private sectors and civil society, the program establishes pacts with goals focused on three pillars: production, protection, and inclusion. This strategy helps identify challenges and opportunities, fostering collaboration among public officials, community associations, companies, cooperatives, banks, and producers for sustainable rural development.
This initiative is part of a broader sustainable territorial development program aimed at strengthening local value chains, promoting the social and economic inclusion of family farmers, and contributing to the regeneration of local ecosystems.
The overall objective of this assignment aims to develop and implement market access strategies for small-scale rural producers in Brazil’s semiarid regions. It focuses on strengthening agroecological and sustainable value chains, enhancing the technical and commercial capacities of smallholder farmers, and connecting them to potential markets. Through structured assessments, training, and facilitation of commercial relationships, the project seeks to increase the economic inclusion of smallholders while contributing to local environmental sustainability.
The proposal must be submitted to Grazielle Cardoso at cardoso@idhtrade.org before September 6th 2024 at 6:00 PM (Brasilia time).
